This August, I was lucky enough to visit Thailand with a friend and one of my sisters. It was an incredible experience with many highs (and a few lows!) while we travelled to different places within Thailand. During our trip we visited Bangkok (twice), Chiangmai, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and had an unexpected stay in Surat Thani! By going to all of these places, we were able to see the different sides of Thailand; from the bustling city life of Bangkok, to the peaceful paradise on Koh Phangan.
Over the next 4 days, I am going to upload 4 posts from my trip to Thailand, one from each of the places we went to. And of course, I will be including plenty of pictures from our trip! Enjoy!
Because our stay in Bangkok was very short, we crammed a lot in the next day, visiting multiple temples including the famous Wat Pho and Wat Arun Temples, taking a long-tail fishing boat to the floating markets and having our first ride in a Thai tuk tuk. Accompanying us was an Australian we met at our hotel whose name is Luke, we all had a great day together! We ended the day with a delicious Thai green curry at a restaurant next to our hotel.
With the next day being our last day in Bangkok, we took full advantage of the fact the street we were staying on turns into a massive street market during the day and shopped for souvenirs for most of the morning! Rounding this off with a delicious Pad Thai for lunch and a Thai massage, we were sad to be leaving this city, but excited to return to it at the end of our trip.
Total price of taxi from airport to hotel for all three of us (not each) = 500 Baht (£13.45) – this took about 45 minutes
Entrance to each temple = 200 Baht (£5.38)
Long tail fishing boat trip = 800 Baht (£21.52 each)
Tuk tuk ride = 80 Baht (£2.15)
Average cost of a meal = 200 Baht (£5.38)
Thai massage = 150 Baht (£4.03) – for 30 minutes
