A TRIP TO: BUCHAREST, ROMANIA

The last part of this mini blog series is my trip to Romania’s capital; Bucharest. It was just under 2 years ago, when myself and most of the lacrosse club at my university took a trip here for our LAX tour after we had finished exams in the summer. I won’t lie, before finding out we were visiting Romania, I had never heard of Bucharest, and was unsure of what to expect, but I ended up having a fab time. 

A TRIP TO: SORRENTO, ITALY

It’s that time of the week where I share some travel pictures of my next trip, this time to Sorrento in Italy! This picturesque town lies on the Amalfi coast at the southern end of the Bay of Naples. It’s situated on the cliffs and is quite literally heaven on earth (my photos below and a quick Google search will prove that)! We were lucky enough to stay in a hotel right near the coast overlooking the world-famous Mount Vesuvius, a volcano that erupted in 79 AD. Like the previous trips I have written about, we went for 2 weeks, which was quite a long time in the Italian sun. We did some travelling around to some neighbouring towns and islands! 

A TRIP TO: CRETE, GREECE

The Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean off the coast of Libya and Egypt is the next stop in this mini blog series. I visited this island with my family just as I was starting to fall in love with Classics. Crete is thought to be the birthplace of Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, and the island is filled with history and ruins. We stayed for 2 weeks (based in Heraklion, the islands capital), exploring every inch of the island, even going on a few boat trips to neighbouring islands, including Spinalonga. 

A TRIP TO: LANZAROTE, SPAIN

The outbreak of the coronavirus across the world and fairly dismal mood has probably got most of us longing for breath-taking beaches and serene sceneries. Although it is obviously not possible right now, for many the temptation to jet away for a few days is very high. I for one am longing for a holiday and quite sad I can’t book a trip or look forward to one anytime soon! 

So, all this longing for a small getaway got me thinking about some trips I have been on over the last few years and I thought it would be nice to share them here with those who, like me, are thinking of sandy beaches and a lil’ bit of sunshine. The purpose of this post and the following 3 this month is simply to provide a bit of escapism for you all. I find scrolling through holiday pictures to be really absorbing and gives me ideas of where I’d like to go next. Hope this helps someone!
