It’s been a few weeks since I gave an update on how my eating habits have been since moving to China almost three months ago. This post won’t be too long as I don’t want to repeat previous posts, but I have had a lot of interest in my updates on food and my eating.

I have certainly surprised myself in coming to China and becoming so comfortable with different food so quickly. Finding it incredibly easy to adjust to my new diet has made me feel so much more relaxed when I go somewhere new to eat. Back in London, I tend to eat out at the same places over and over again, ordering the same food from the menu. Why did I always do this?! By pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I have discovered foods that I absolutely love, no matter how wild and wacky they are (in fact, sometimes it’s best not knowing what you are eating until you have actually eaten it)!

Eating out has also become a lot less stressful for me too. There is a certain pressure, I find, when eating out in a restaurant with friends/colleagues. At least this was the case for me before I moved to Chengdu. I now do not get any anxious feelings at all in a restaurant, I feel completely at ease and confused as to why I never felt like that before! 

As I mentioned in a previous post which I uploaded about a month ago, my weight is finally getting higher, (if you want to read this post, click here). With over 300 views and a few lovely comments, this post made me incredibly happy and it is so great that others can appreciate my growth too! It’s so nice to see my efforts with food actually paying off for once!

It is a relief to know that I am gradually getting better and am having a much more positive outlook on my physical health, which has not been so great over the last few years!

    Great to hear that your health is improving.

    I do the same thing when I go to restaurants; ordering the same thing. I guess that's why they call it comfort food.

    It's great that you have experienced such positive results trying something new. I think there are some important life lessons there.

    In fact, your entire move to China sounds like it is an example of the benefits of challenging oneself occasionally.

Before coming here I thought I would struggle, but it has been nothing bit fun and exciting, with different adventures around the corner!

  2. While I was in Taiwan I ate like a local and LOVED it. The food is so good and I'm okay with rice and noodles every single day.

    Awesome to see living in China has been beneficial.
