14 days into my self-isolation at home, and I have been making the most of quality family time I missed out on when I was in China for 12 months. And while it pains me to be away from friends AGAIN, finding things to occupy my time with has luckily not been a problem. I thought it might be nice and beneficial for some to share what I have been doing to stay happy, healthy and positive in isolation in London!
Baking is an activity I have always enjoyed and with all this free time on my hands, I have decided to try to get back into it and bake something every week. So far, I have made some Nutella cookies (and wrote a post about it; the link for that is here) and enjoyed making pancakes with my sisters. Not too adventurous, but it’s a fun activity to do and everyone in the family can get involved with it. I have also attempted a Victoria sponge!
Who knew Monopoly could be such fun?!?! Especially when you’re surprisingly very good at it! Whipping out the board games is perfect in a time like this. My sisters and I have been entertaining ourselves with the Game of Thrones Monopoly board, which I thought I would hate, but I’m becoming quite the master at it. Hours of fun to be had. But don’t think I will be quite as good with Articulate!
It looks like over the last week, the weather has turned, giving us the Spring temperatures, we have been expecting (and certainly deserve)! I have been making the most out of this, having one daily walk (and now starting to go jogging) in a local field near me. Refreshing and healthy, getting all the Vitamin D I can get and great way to occupy my time too.
Other activities I have been getting involved with are colouring which is so therapeutic! I purchased a colouring book illustrated by Johanna Basford called “Enchanted Forests” and has about 100 pages of intricate illustrations to colour in as you wish. And of course, my Netflix account is being used and abused on a daily basis! I have been watching Tiger King, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Gossip Girl, Night on Earth, The Windsors, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez and This Country (on BBC iPlayer).
Hope this has helped someone or been something nice to read while you are at home self-isolating! And thank you to those of you who are continuing to read my blog. I am averaging over 100 views a day which is lovely and is making me one happy blogger!
Stay safe everyone!

It is great that you have been keeping yourself busy. This is one of the biggest key factors into keeping your mental health on check. Oooh you can never go wrong with Monopoly. I love that you have the GoT edition! It is great that you got into coloring too. Love the different shades you picked out! Stay safe!

I have definitely been using these activities to distract myself and steer away from having high levels of anxiety! The Monopoly and colouring are helping so much and are great fun! Hope you are staying safe too! x
DeleteLook at all that food and nature!! Seems like you’ve been making the most of your time. I’ve got into baking too and I’ve purchased one of those colouring books to start doing that to keep my head clear and to give me something to focus on. Take care and stay safe!

DeleteI have done more baking in a week then I usually do in a month! It is surprisingly peaceful to make cookies and bars since my mind is only on the recipe, and the outcome is delicious!
ReplyDeleteAs peaceful as baking is coloring; I love your Enchanted Forest book. I have a bird one.
Yes me too! I have been making a lot more than usual, and excited to bake some more this weekend! Glad you are enjoying the colouring and I hope you are keeping safe x
DeleteYES I completely agree about Monopoly - I'll be a master by the time this lockdown is over! I'm separated from my sister so we've been playing the virtual version but it's actually been so much fun. If you're looking to stock up on games I'd also recommend Exploding Kittens :)
