MY BALI TRIP PART ONE: JULY 2019

I have just returned from one of the best trips of my life! As an early birthday treat to myself, I decided I wanted to go on holiday to the beach, a much-needed break after being cooped up in the city for months on end. Even though I went on this trip alone, I still had an amazing time, doing everything on my list and more.

I decided I wanted to be quite spontaneous on this trip (this isn’t like me at all – I like to plan every last detail of any trip I go on!). I did have a good idea of what I wanted to do, but I went without planning what I would do on each day and how I would get to most of these places. This did make me feel slightly nervous, but I think made me enjoy my trip that much more!

I am going to split my trip into three posts, so I don’t overload one with too many photos. These posts will be uploaded over the next three days; don’t worry they will mainly be photos! The day I arrived was just a chill and beach day; it took me a while to get to Bali from Chengdu, so this rest was much appreciated. This first post will be on my second and third full days in Bali. Enjoy!

Second day – Monkey Forest, Rice Terraces and swings:

On my second day, I visited the Sacred Monkey Sanctuary in Ubud, about an hour and a half away from my hotel. I did just plan on visiting this one attraction, however my taxi driver very kindly offered to take me to the rice terraces on the way back to my hotel.

Monkey Sanctuary Entrance fee = 80,000Rp (£4.69)
Rice Terrace fee = 300,000Rp (£17.61)

Third day – Sunrise climb on Mount Batur, sunset on Seminyak Beach:

My third day started at 1:30am with a pickup from my hotel to the foot of Mount Batur, the biggest active volcano in Bali. It was so tough, especially with one of my legs being significantly weaker than the other, but I managed to finish the hike up in 1 hour and 17 minutes (it normally takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes). We arrived with plenty of time before the sunrise, so we had breakfast and tried to stay warm (it was about 14 degrees at the summit). The weather let us down a bit, what with the mist, but as soon as the sun began to appear, we were all greeted with a golden sky and a breath-taking sunrise! Thoroughly enjoyable and I would 100% recommend doing this on a visit to Bali. I ended my third day watching the sunset on the beach again.

Guided tour up Mount Batur fee = 1,073,649Rp (£63)
