WHAT TO DO IN CHENGDU

Seeing as my last few posts have been quite serious and heavy, I thought it would be a good idea if I posted something a little more light-hearted and fun! Having a Monday to Friday job has meant that I have plenty of opportunities to use my weekends and do some travelling around Chengdu! Although it is not the biggest city in China, it certainly is beautiful and has so many interesting sights that I would recommend anyone visiting to see. This post will be filled mostly with photos so, enjoy!

When I first arrived, I stayed in a hotel while my placement was being sorted. A short walk from where I was is the “Nine Eye Bridge” or “九眼桥.” This beautiful bridge is all lit up at night and is truly breath-taking when stood in front of it! If you follow me on either of my Instagram accounts, I have posted it a few times there!

Shortly after arriving here, we were made aware of a huge museum that puts on annual light shows that correspond to the exhibition on show inside the museum. This light show is unlike anything I have ever seen before! It was magical to be surrounded by such a beautifully crafted spectacle.

I had obviously heard of the Great Wall of China before I came here and I fully intend on visiting it soon, but I did not know of the Luodai Great Wall in Longquan. My friend and I went on a perfect day! It took us about 45 minutes to walk the length of it, so we then walked back along it too. Seeing the landscape and the uncanny resemblance to some parts of the Great Wall of China made it finally kick in that I am in China. The views were stunning, and that trip has made me incredibly excited for more adventurous days out as the weeks go by!

Chengdu is also filled with many parks, even right in the middle of the city centre. They are tranquil and stunning, especially now that the weather here is starting to feel a lot more like summer!

Of course, there are plenty of places to shop in Chengdu. It almost seems as though there is a mall down every street! Last weekend, my friend and I visited the Global Centre, the largest shopping mall in the world! Anything you can think of is inside the building, including a waterpark.

Every day I am so happy to be here. During the week I am doing my dream job, and on the weekends, seeing more of the beauty of China. I have some exciting travel plans coming soon, especially for the summer, so if that interests you, stick around to see where I will be going and what I will be doing. But for now, I am going to plan my next adventures for tomorrow!
