GETTING BETTER

It’s been a while since I have spoken about this issue, so I thought I would update everyone with how my troubles with eating food have been. (For anyone interested, my previous posts about my eating habits are here and here).

Although I have only been here for three weeks, my eating habits have changed significantly since I moved to China to teach. I got placed in a school and started teaching last week, but already I have so much respect for every teacher that has ever taught me; it’s hard work, but so enjoyable all at the same time (I will talk more about this in another blog post coming soon)! I have quite an intense timetable on some days of the week, which means I am hungry all the time!

I am normally very safe and boring when it comes to food, I know what I like, and I am uncomfortable with trying new things. A lot of the food in China is very different to the food back home! In my honest opinion, I thought I wouldn’t like it as much as I do, and of course there are certain dishes which I am not a fan of, but on the whole, I LOVE the food here! Much to my surprise, I am starting to eat much bigger portions of food. I know this won’t be much of a big deal to anyone reading this, but this is such a huge step for me!

One of my goals while I am in China is to gain weight. I am sick and tired of clothes not fitting me and getting told by so many people a day that I am so skinny is starting to drive me a bit mad! In all honesty, I don’t think I am going to have a problem gaining weight while I am here. I love the food and find myself thinking about food a lot more than I normally would!

I am feeling a lot more positive about the coming weeks and months while I am here, and I can’t wait to come back home looking and feeling a lot healthier. With my Gold DofE Award Presentation in Buckingham Palace coming soon, I want to make sure I look and feel great in the presence of members of the Royal Family.

Thank you for reading, just going to finish my donut now!

  1. That's great! I can certainly relate. I'm currently recovering from anorexia and always gain weight when I travel. It's probably the only time of the year that I feel happy and free therefore allow myself to eat everything I want. It seems that you are having a great time in China and it was a positive life change to you. Keep strong. Wish you all the best.
